Since I don't have room to do a traditional garage sale, I'm doing a virtual one. In preparation for moving in late September, I've decided it's time to sell off stuff I've not worn or used so I have less stuff to move and the items can go to people who will use or have a need for them.

This morning I sent the Summit Book PDF off to the lead con organizer for inclusion in the con goodie bag. It's pleasingly odd to see my own work referenced a few times in endnotes and reference sections.

I've had some friends who've been trying to get me to try WoW (World of Warcraft for the uninitiated) again. Thanks to seven free days from Blizzard I'm giving it another try, but I know these free days won't be enough to keep me. Already I've learned something: I hate perpetual soloing. Some is okay, however the joy in playing games like this, for me, is getting together with friends (or a guild/your guild) and doing battlegrounds, instances and raids along with some questing along the way.

That being said, I think I might need a new guild. What am I looking for?

At this point, I don't mind switching guilds (and servers for my main only) if it will allow me to have the gaming experience I want (and thus will keep me interested in playing WoW). If you know or belong to a guild you think I should check out, please let me know.

Because potential guildies do want to know what kind of a toon you have I figure it'd be good for me to share the stats of my main and which server she's currently on.

P.S. As a final heads-up, I've not played her in about 8 months to a year. It's taking me a bit to remember all my old keystrokes and acclimate to the changes that have happened to pallies over that span of time. I'm also well aware that my main needs better gear. Should I make a more permanent return to WoW that'll be my first order of business.

One would think that with totes and totes of garb/costuming that finding something fun to wear for Halloween would be a breeze. As much as having that much stuff is a boon, it's also a pain. Why? Tons of choices. Seriously, it's not a matter of if I'm going to dress up, it's a matter of what and that is where I'd love your input. So far I've come up with these ideas (and a few points about each):

• Steampunk - This would require getting a few other pieces, but still do-able. Only thing I'd be concerned about is with the recent popularity of steampunk a lot of people dressing this way.


• Goth/Gothic - This would be fairly easy, all I'd need to do is raid my formal wear. The catch is formal wear, this would be geared toward going to one or two parties/events and that's it.


• Fantasy - Another easy one as I have a plethora of items to pick from. Basically I'd be an adventuress (elf, human, felinoid ... any would work. Feel free to provide feedback of what kind) something akin to what I originally wore to faire this year. Catch with this one is it wouldn't be anything drastically new for me as fantasy genre LARPs are what I've played a lot in and thus have a lot of experience putting together this kind of costume.


• Swordswoman - I'd need to get, make or have made a few final pieces for this costume to be complete, but I have the bulk of it. This would entail the doublet and skirt set I got at the faire this year as the costume centerpiece. I also have black leggings I can wear in place of the skirt for a less formal look. Again, plenty of time to get this done if I decide what I want to be before the end of Sept.


• Fairy/Fey - Sort of fantasy, but with a girlier twist. Granted I'd be more inclined to do a darker kind of fey/fairy, but suggestions welcome. I'd need to get a couple of things for this, but have plenty of time to do so.


• Other - Give me your suggestion/idea.

Want an idea of what all I have sitting in my garb/costume collection, I've got some photos here. Because I don't want what others have shared influencing the suggestions from others the comments are screened (LJ only).

Just a heads up that I'll be going through to do round two of friends list cleaning.

No, you don't need to comment to any post to stay on my list. I just want to make sure people are aware of why they've been removed if that's the case.

As I shared before I don't want a journal/blog that just has a bunch of people watching (and that's if they even look at their friends list) because I'm not writing this blog for other's personal entertainment. I feel that a blog like this is supposed to be more interactive between you and your friends/other posters that you watch. This doesn't mean I expect comments from you on every post, but that I would like to know that I'm not just writing to myself. Likewise I've found that I've found that I comment on posts which interest me and I've found that the people whose posts interest me I'm still friends with outside of blog-land.

Also, it's apparent that some of my interests and the interests of some of those on my friends list have diverged. Given that, I think its best I let them go as we really have nothing of interest in common any longer.

Comment if you wish, but there isn't a need to ask to stay on my friends list. Today's cut isn't based on response rate, it's based on content and the choice of what I want to read and who I want to have access to my journal.

... knowing that there's a law where you can get a hefty fine if you drive while talking on your cellphone, and then seeing one of Seattle's Finest talking on a cellphone while making a turn from Columbia onto Third Ave. Nope, no sirens or lights flashing, just chatting and driving.
